CHRISTMAS
2009
During Christmas time the Xewkija Local
Council organizes activities for the elderly and also for children. St
John The Baptist Square and Church Street are also decorated with
Chrismtmas decorative lights including the crib.  |

XEWKIJA DAY 2009
The
Xewkija Local Council organized various activities to commemorate the
331st anniversary of the Xewkija Parish. The Xewkija Day is celebrated
on the 27th of November but the activities were organized during the
months of October and November.

ANIMAL SHOW 2009
The Xewkija Local
Council organized the Animal Show for 2009 at
Bridegroom Street.
The activity was held on Sunday 30th
August. |

FEAST OF THE BEHEADING
OF ST JOHN THE BAPTIST
On the 29th of August our village
celebrates the feast of the Beheading of St John The Baptist. For the
second consecutive year the Xewkija Local Council with the collaboration
of various Local Committees organized several activities.  |

The archaeological
survey at Mġarr ix-Xini Valley 2009
Excavation works at
Għar ix-Xiħ resumed this summer (2009), entering into the 5th
season. As in previous seasons, these works were carried out by the
Department of Classics and Archaeology of the University of Malta and
the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage. |

SIGHT - LEONARDO DA VINCI
PROGRAMME
Xewkija Local Council has submitted a
successful application for an EU co-funded project under the Leonardo Da
Vinci Programme. The aim of this project is that of strengthening the
quality of services in the tourism sector in Gozo. For this reason, the
project will ensure that eighteen young Gozitans currently attending

Mgarr ix-Xini Regional
Park
The Project Description Statement for the proposed Mgarr Ix-Xini
Regional Park is a response to a request by Sannat Local Council and
Xewkija Local Council to develop a joint initiative aimed at protecting,
safeguarding, sustaining and enhancing the
ecosensitive, geocultural landscapes of Mgarr Ix-Xini valley.
