MOTHER'S DAY 2008 ACTIVITY
The Xewkija Local
Council organized an outing to Malta on the occasion of the Mother's Day
2008. The activity was held on Tuesday the 6th of May. Mothers and
their families were invited for this outing.

GOZO 1234 - MAY2008
The Xewkija Local
Council participated with various activities during the GOZO 1234 that
was organized in Gozo during the first four days of May 2008. These
activities were intended to promote Gozo. Many Maltese and tourists
visited Gozo during these days and our Council with the cooperation of
various organizations within our village prepared some activities.

Geoprospection at Għar ix-Xiħ
As part of the
ongoing archaeological research programme at Għar ix-Xiħ, a systematic
geophysical survey was undertaken on the site to determine the remaining
depth down to bedrock, detect any buried anomalies, and gain an idea of
the nature and extent of the stratigraphic levels as yet unexcavated.

CARNIVAL 2008
The Xewkija Local Council organized Carnival activities for The 2008
Carnival. On Friday 1st February, at the Xewkija Parish
Center, at 6.30 the Carnival Costumes Competitions were organised.
There were six categories for these competitions. About forty
children aged between 2 and thirteen participated for this year's
competitions. |

Resurfacing of St JOHN Street
St John The Baptist
Street was resurfaced by the Xewkija Local Council. The project
consisted of resurfacing of St John The Baptist Street and also new
water services. This road was in a very bad state and needed to be
resurfaced.

Mgarr ix-Xini Regional
Park
The Project Description Statement for the proposed Mgarr Ix-Xini
Regional Park is a response to a request by Sannat Local Council and
Xewkija Local Council to develop a joint initiative aimed at protecting,
safeguarding, sustaining and enhancing the
ecosensitive, geocultural landscapes of Mgarr Ix-Xini valley.
