SIGHT - LEONARDO DA VINCI
PROGRAMME
Xewkija Local Council has submitted a
successful application for an EU co-funded project under the Leonardo Da
Vinci Programme. The aim of this project is that of strengthening the
quality of services in the tourism sector in Gozo. For this reason, the

XEWKIJA CARNIVAL 2009
The
Xewkija Local Council organized Carnival activities for The 2009
Carnival. On Friday 20th February, at the Xewkija Parish
Center, at 6.30 the Carnival Costumes Competitions were organised.
There were six categories for these competitions. About forty children
aged between 2 and thirteen participated for this year's competitions. |

CHRISTMAS 2008
The Xewkija Local Council organized
activities during the most beautiful time of the year, Christmas. The
Council organized an outing for the elderly residents. We visited
various cribs in other localities in Gozo. A lunch and a bingo (tombla)
were organized at the Arka Foundation Hall in Ghajnsielem. |

XEWKIJA DAY 2008
The Xewkija Local Council
organized various activities to commemorate the 330th anniversary of the
Xewkija Parish. The Xewkija Day is celebrated on the 27th of November
but the activities were organized during the whole month of November. |

Resurfacing of St JOHN Street
St John The Baptist
Street was resurfaced by the Xewkija Local Council. The project
consisted of resurfacing of St John The Baptist Street and also new
water services. This road was in a very bad state and needed to be
resurfaced.

Mgarr ix-Xini Regional
Park
The Project Description Statement for the proposed Mgarr Ix-Xini
Regional Park is a response to a request by Sannat Local Council and
Xewkija Local Council to develop a joint initiative aimed at protecting,
safeguarding, sustaining and enhancing the
ecosensitive, geocultural landscapes of Mgarr Ix-Xini valley.
